“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers in SPEECH, in LIFE, in LOVE, in FAITH, and in PURITY.”
This is our faith. This is the faith of the Church.
We are proud to profess in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- From the Liturgy of Baptism
On the day of your child’s Baptism, you accepted the responsibility of training them in the practice of our faith. You promised to teach them to love God and our neighbor as Jesus taught us. This is an immense responsibility.
The members of our Religious Education team strive to assist you in this responsibility, working to provide the best possible religious education and formation for our youth. The curriculum follows the guidelines established by the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the General Directory for Catechesis. Our catechists are devoted members of our parish who have availed themselves not only to the children of this parish, but to training and formation provided to them through the Archdiocese of Hartford, as well as workshops offered by Saint Catherine throughout the year. Parents and students alike are truly blessed by their dedication.
We wish to acknowledge our commitment to work together with you in providing quality religious education to support the faith which you instill in your children. We strive at all times to support your efforts to form your child in the living practice of our faith, and to provide them with a positive experience in our program. By working together, we can achieve this goal.
As we all know, faith is a gift from God. The expression and nurturing of that faith takes place in the context of the family. It is in the daily sharing of the members of the family that the beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church are learned and celebrated. Our program spans the entire academic life of our children, beginning in Kindergarten and continuing through high school. As such, each level is necessary to the next, creating the foundation upon which their faith formation is developed.
We ask that you read carefully all of the lessons and information which will be sent home with your child throughout the year, and assist them in this important phase in their faith journey.
